This is an excellent, pre-owned condition beer stein. This one is a vintage stoneware mug style Stein made by GERZ in West Germany. The logo on it is the iconic Paulanerbrau Munchen Salvatore emblem, which is deeply tied to the Paulaner brewery, one of Munichs oldest, most revered breweries. Originally founded in 1600s by monks as seen by monk in logo. Salvator is the legendary Dopplebock, the strong malty beer first brewed by monks as a liquid bread for lent. Munich (Munchen) has deep roots with beer culture and oktoberfest. The Gerz company is one of Germanys more renowned mnfrs of stoneware, mostly salt glazed and handpainted. This mug has a sticker on the bottom with the jug in triangle logo and GERZ W. GERMANY printed on it. This tells us that mug was made between 1949-1990, as that was the years West Germany existed. The mug is 5.25" inches tall and 3.75" at the base in diameter. The mug is 3.25" in diameter at the top rim of mug and 5" in diameter, including handle.
