This is a set of six Williams Sonoma Guy Buffet Les Garcons ceramic salad plates. The “Les Garcons" design by Guy Buffet, depicts comical sommeliers and waiters in multiple restaurant settings.
The artist, Guy Buffet (1943–2023) was a celebrated French-American artist known for his whimsical, humorous paintings of French and Polynesian themes, particularly restaurants, chefs, and sommeliers. After early art studies in France and a stint as an official artist for the French Navy, he settled in Hawaii, developing a signature style that captured the joy of life with playful compositions and a childlike spirit. His work was widely commissioned by corporations like Grand Marnier and Perrier-Jouët and his distinctive art can be found on various products, from dinnerware to clothing.
These plates measure 8.25" in width. They are in excellent condition with no chips, utensil marks or any flaws. There may be a couple light scuffs here and there from storage, but they are extremely minor.
