This vintage or antique Royal Doulton Farmer John Large 6.5" Jug -also called a Toby Jug- is beautifully designed and has maintained its showcase level of intricate details and high gloss finish. Handmade in England, this vintage piece is a part of the Character and Toby Jugs collection. See pictures for details. This piece is in great vintage shape.
On the bottom, I noticed what seems to be a round cluster of air bubbles sealed into the glossy finish, under an inch in diameter. Barely a flaw but perhaps noteworthy and shown in pictures.
The Royal Doulton "Farmer John" Toby Jug (aka pitcher) was produced in England circa 1938 to 1960. This character jug collection dates back to the 1800s, where the jugs shape is modeled after a human figure and in this case the pouring spout is at the top of the head and the handle of the jug seems to be part of Farmer John's hair.
