Rare original late-19th-century diazo blueprint plat map titled Wood Lot Map East Hampton L.I. Back of Freetown, showing the subdivision of a large proprietary woodlot in the Springs/Freetown area of East Hampton, Long Island, New York. Hand-lettered and annotated, the map records the deed of several hundred acres to Mary A. Strong and Maria I. Halsey (prominent East Hampton families), recorded at the Suffolk County Clerks Office in Riverhead by County Clerk John H. Young. Individual parcels are numbered with exact acreage (100.06, 80.86, 130.50, etc.). Provenance: from the estate of Colonel Frank W. Halsey (direct descendant). Typical age-related staining and yellowing to the diazo paper, but all lines and text remain legible. An important piece of East Hampton Town proprietary land history; these original recorded woodlot divisions are seldom seen on the market and are still referenced in modern titles. Folded as issued, approx. 15.5 × 19.5 in. unfolded. **Signature May Be Required
