Antique Meriden Britannia Co. silverplate bridal (bride's) basket #1843. This exquisite Victorian-era piece features finely detailed cherub carving at the supports, raised birds and branch/foliate embossing across the body, a swing handle, and a decorative footed base. Measuring 9" wide × 10" deep × 5" high with the handle down (11" high handle raised), it's a compact yet highly ornamental example of Meriden's decorative silver-plated wares.
Condition is excellent for age with only light, expected surface wear consistent with gentle use and age (see photos). The ornate details — cherubs, birds, branches and feet — remain sharply defined. There are no dents, no loose mounts, and the swing handle operates smoothly. The underside bears the Meriden maker's mark and model number 1843 (photographed).
