A well-known vintage collectible. Creative kokeshi “Mugen” by Issetsu Kuribayashi. There are several size variations of “Mugen,” and this is large approx. 14 in.
In 1970, “Mugen” received the Prime Minister’s Award and was exhibited as a representative modern kokeshi group display at the Japanese Government Pavilion of Expo ’70.
★Reference price: Issetsu Kuribayashi is a highly regarded kokeshi artisan with many awards. His work ranges broadly in price from $$$ to $$$$. I have set this piece in the more affordable range compared to other listings.
★Condition: Very good vintage condition considering the age. There is some paint wear and other age-related marks from long-term storage. This piece was made in the 1970s, so minor imperfections are expected. Please review all photos before purchasing.
