Examine all the images for this flag. It is free from holes and tears. The flag features black marker writing and some staining, visible in the pictures. Cleaning the stains with appropriate cleaners is possible if desired. We haven't attempted to clean the flag ourselves. Shadows and glares in the images are due to lighting conditions.
The answering pennant, also known as the code/answer pennant, serves multiple purposes in nautical signaling. It signifies that a message has been received and understood when hoisted close up. When lowered to the dip (half-masted), it indicates that the receiving vessel acknowledges each part of a multi-part message as it's being transmitted. Additionally, when used with numerical flags, it acts as a decimal point.
