I have been taking pictures of corpses for 30 years. While traveling to death scenes in dangerous areas around the world, I have taken on the ultimate subject, the corpse, and have taken on life-threatening challenges with a sense of fulfillment and pride. On the other hand, these thirty years have also been a battle for freedom of expression. The extreme expression of corpses has been exposed to harsh criticism since the early 1990s, and the venues for publication have been limited. In recent years, the world has become increasingly sanitized, and it is almost a miracle that I can continue my activities. The world is cruel. If you look at the world and history on that premise, the traces of people who lived and died beautifully will shine like a starry sky. I believe that my job is to give names to the nameless dead who have fallen by the roadside.
