In EXCELLENT condition, no flaws!
American Brilliant Period (ABP) cut glass is
fine quality, hand-cut crystal produced
between 1880 and 1925. lt's exceptional
"brilliance" results from the high lead content
of the glass, up to 50% versus 24% for
modern crystal, which gives it a high
refractive index. ABP pieces behave like
prisms scattering light into the different
colors of the rainbow. Artisans pressed
"blank" or uncut pieces of glass against a
series of spinning wheels to cut the desired
pattern into the surface of the glass and
finished, polished the design restoring it's
original clarity and sparkle. Early in the ABP
the patterns were 100% hand cut!
