1860s Antique Cotton Doll Chemise Underwear Underpinnings Civil War Victorian Wh

This antique doll chemise is from about the 1860s. It has some age related flaws such as mending under the armpit and age related patina and discolorations. It is trimmed with fine French cotton Valenciennes lace, woven with a floral motif. The fancy front placket is hand embroidered ala broderie Anglaise. The placket is for decoration and does not actually open. It has a low open neck line. The doll would put on the shift over her head. However, the last body it was on must have eaten more than her share of pastries, because it created a small tear under the armpit that someone had to mend. There are rust colored discoloration on the front and back near the waist line. The photos are the best indicator of whether this might fit your doll. Look for the yellow ruler in the photos. Measurements indicate that this might fit a doll with about a 10” to 11” chest. It could go up to 12 inches, but I wouldn’t push it like the last owner did.
