Esco Style 1960s Billiards Hustler Michael McKie Chalkware Sculpture Statue Ugly

Vintage 1960s Retro Mid Century Modern Esco Style plaster or chalkware figurine by California artist and sculptor Michael "Mike" McKie. This figure was part of The Uglies series, clay people produced for the public in a plaster mold, then sold unpainted to hobby and craft shops. A contemporary newspaper article says, "What distinguishes them from other adorable, 'cutesy' statuettes ... is that they are downright ugly."

This pool, billiards, or snookers figure is titled Reverse English!! and features a cross-eyed pointed-nose fellow leaning over a pool table. His pants have dropped around his ankles and his underwear (which have the initials R. R.) aren't far behind, revealing a bandaged butt. The back is signed copyright 1969 M.C. McKie Hustler Series.

Vintage as-found condition with a few small chips, as is common with the material. Note the spot of paint loss on the top of the table.  About 5 3/4" tall, 7" wide, and 3" deep.
