Although this is not a $10,000 ancient stone artifact from the Tang Dynasty era, this early 20th Century sculpture is the closest possible replica. For being approximately 100 years old, this glossy Asian War Horse is in phenomenal condition (with only two minor cracks shown in 2 pics).
It was professionally hand-carved from a single block of Red Mahogany wood. Beautifully painted in green and red stains, this is a unique carving with no known worldwide copies. We estimate that it was created for a wealthy family in China around 1900 to 1910. It was very common in those days for affluent families to have a prancing Tang Dynasty style “War Horse” in the home.
Purchased at auction from a senior citizen that said it had been in a crystal case for over 50 years. Extremely well preserved for its age, this small sculpture is a true investment: with a replacement value of about $2000.
