Gull Sculpture Alaskan Sitka Clay
Beautiful vintage condition.
Beautiful white ceramic bird in flight.
Approximately 15" tall.
This vintage Sitka Clay seagull figurine is from a local estate. It is made from Alaskan earthquake clay. which is clay that surfaced during the 1964 Alaskan earthquake. This clay is found in rivers and streams in the Cook Inlet area. It is gray in its natural state, but turns reddish brown when fired. The marbleized effect is achieved by mixing the earthquake clay with white clay.The wonderful seagull is in excellent vintage condition with no damage.
There is a sticker on the bottom that reads, "Made in Sitka, Alaska". It is also marked in black with the words, "Sitka Clay" followed by the artist's initials.
