Blue Sapphire Renaissance Ring

Blue sapphires have always been a coveted gemstone. During the middle ages, sapphire was believed to shield the wearer from harm and disease and was used as an antidote against poison.
This beauty is a piece that my mother gave me, which her mother before her gave her and so on. I'm not a ring person really and the blue is so pretty that it should go somewhere someone will show it off! All I really know about it is that it's genuine sapphire and it's got beautiful lattice like detailing in silver. The last photo I tried to show you the spot with the tarnish. I don't know how to get rid of that and instead of doing more harm than good I decided to just leave it. I think it gives it character. The ring is a size 7 1/2 and I'm sure it can be resized.
