Influenced by Cole Porter, Billie Holiday, Jobim, Gershwin, Bacharach and others, Sheppard has tried to let their subconscious direct her writing. She says: "Gone are the days of 'lovin' dat man' no matter what he does and being a victim of circumstance. I present an alternative to the notion that the blues are caused by someone or something else in my songs - I tell the story of how I came to realize that I have created all my troubles and if I want a better life then I had better make it that way myself." This album was recorded live in two days at "The Premises Studio" Hackney Road, London with no overdubs. Produced by Leo Feigin.
