Using a telescoping boom pole allows you to place a microphone in close proximity to the subject while remaining at a distance and out of the frame. The BC06P includes an internal coiled XLR cable which removes the hassle of tangling an XLR cable around your boom pole and also makes it easier to extend the boom pole without damaging your XLR cable.
