This large, striking Royal Doulton Figure is a character model of Ruth the Pirate Maid HN 2900. Issued until 1985, Modelled by artist William K. Harper. 1980 Tableware Ltd.
Issued as part of the Gilbert & Sullivan series, this truly remarkable piece would be a wonderful addition to any collection.
This piece is hand signed on the bottom. I have seen this signature before on some of the Royal Doulton's in this collection. It is believed to be the signature of Michael Doulton, descendent of original founder of the company. He often signs rare and special pieces as a continued ambassador of the company.
