Hand Blown dark green glass wine bottle. Early 1800’s. In the mid 1800’s machines, were introduced to manufacture. Approximately 11 1/2” tall. About 3 3/4” in diameter at the widest ‘chest’. 3 1/3” in diameter at the bottom. Heavy, thick, green glass. Non symmetrical. Weighs 1 lb. 5oz. Is has about 200 years of coral scaling partially covering the inside. The outside cleaned up nicely.
While on vacation 20 years ago in St. Vincent, our dive instructor recovered it off the coast of Fort Duvernette, built around 1790. The Fort once protected a chief port of St Vincent. See last photo. The Fort is a 190 ft. tall volcanic plug which sticks out of the sea on the windward side of St. Vincent.
