Vintage 1970 - 80 Hand Signed by Jonas Gerard.
He was a self-taught abstract expressionist painter who died in 2020 at the age 79
Born Gerard Jonas Schlouch in Casablanca, Morocco in 1941 to parents of French and Brazilian descent, he legally changed his name after people mispronounced it. He moved to New York City with his family in 1955 and began selling his paintings in Washington Square Park .
His work is in the Collections of many institutions, including the Smithsonian Institution and the World Bank. His daughter, Mira Gerard, runs a gallery in Asheville that sells some of his remaining works.
