Union cavalry spurs model 1859, foliate-style adornment neck, matching set, brass w/iron rowell. Excavated example, lightly cleaned, & showing some greenish patina. excavated on private permission property near Bristow Station, VA. battlefield, as well as the Kettle Run battlefield, & nearby Catlett Station. Multiple small skirmishes & raids took place in the area throughout the war & occupied by both US & CS.
Both were located approximately 6' from each other. Missing most of the iron rowell on both, & one is disfigured (possibly in battle?), otherwise in great condition for being 150+ years buried in the earth. Beautiful pieces of US history
