About natural zircon and the difference between it and cubic zirconia(CZ):
Zircon is a natural gemstone, while CZ is a synthetic lab-created stone. Zircon is naturally occurring and mined, while CZ is specifically designed to be a diamond simulant.
Zircon gemstone has a high refractive index, ranging from 1.92 to 2.01 (meaning it bends light effectively), which is considerably higher than many other gemstones and contributes to its brilliance and "fire" (dispersion of light). Sapphire's refractive index is ~1.76 – 1.77 and diamond's is ~2.42.
