This is an Early American pressed glass compote by an unknown maker. Paneled Star and Button design made 1880 - 1885. The compote has a lovely faint amethyst colored tint.
Fantastic early period piece of pressed glass, this compote measures 9" in diameter and stands 8" tall. The date range is based on the appearance of a table set in an April 1884 wholesaler catalog. References - Metz 1 p174, Kamm 1 p15.
A couple scratches along the underside of the bowl and various other small scratches. All in all minimal signs of wear for this antique piece.
What a wonderful piece to have in any collection of early period pressed glass.
