Signed first edition, first printing hardcover copy of Swanson on Swanson: An Autobiography by Gloria Swanson (Random House, 1980). Signed and dated by the iconic American actress on half title page. Rare true first edition - Random House’s printer’s key was unusual for this time. A first printing was identified as “first edition” stated on copyright page with the number line 2-9. For the second printing, the “first edition” was removed and then the number line operated like normal. This system made first printings by incorrectly mistaken for a second printing. Richly illustrated and with photographs.

Jacket now protected in new (removable) archival sleeve but with some scuffing to faces and shelf wear around the edges - including chipping, creasing and small tears. Small liquid stain to interior side of dj at top of spine. Boards straight and clean with corners bumped. Slightly cocked spine with a few splits in binding. All pages clean save for faint soiling to outer edges.
